Ways to Use the LUTs

Preview while shooting
Use the free Blackmagic Camera app to preview the LUT in real time while recording Apple Log footage.

Record with the LUT
If you prefer, you can also record with the LUT applied directly to your clips in the Blackmagic Camera app for a finished look straight out of camera. I personally recommend applying the LUT while editing. Here's why.

Apply Later (Recommended)
Apply the LUTs in your editing software for instant cinematic and nostalgic looks. The LUT is designed to work as a one-click solution. In most cases, no further adjustments are needed.

Applying the LUT while editing gives you the flexibility to fine-tune exposure and white balance if required, while keeping your original Apple Log footage intact. You can also try different LUTs and looks later without affecting your original footage.

If required you can make subtle adjustments such as:

• White Balance

• Exposure

• Contrast

• Saturation

Which formats are supported?
Apple Log and Apple Log 2 only.

Can I use old footage?
Only if it was shot in Apple Log or Apple Log 2.

Yes. For the best experience, use the free Blackmagic Camera app or any supported mobile editor with LUT support.

Does CapCut support it?
Yes, desktop version with LUT import support.

Does Premiere / DaVinci / Final Cut support it?
Yes, fully compatible via .cube LUT workflow.

Why does Final Cut apply its own LUT?
Disable it in:
Info Inspector → Extended → Camera LUT → None
